Merzouga, a small village in southeastern Morocco, is the gateway to the immense and amazing Sahara Desert. Its stunning golden sand dunes and serene atmosphere make it the ideal destination for an authentic desert experience.

The Erg Chebbi dunes near Merzouga are among the highest in Morocco, reaching up to 150 meters. The constantly shifting sands create a landscape that changes by the hour, from soft gold in the morning to deep orange at sunset and silver under the moonlight.

Day 01 :

Arrival and Sunset Experience

Afternoon Arrival in Merzouga

You will arrive in Merzouga in the afternoon. Your driver will meet you at the designated point or at your accommodation if you are already staying in Merzouga.

You will be welcomed by your camp representative and briefed on your luxury desert experience. Your main luggage will be stored securely or transported to the camp by 4x4 (no need to pack a small bag unless you prefer to ride the camel).

Late Afternoon – Camel Ride into the Dunes

You will mount your camel for an exciting ride through the majestic dunes. Each person receives their own camel. Your experienced guide will lead you deep into the Erg Chebbi dunes.

The camel trek takes approximately one to one and a half hours. You will climb dunes, cross valleys, and arrive at a high vantage point just in time for sunset.

Sunset in the Desert

Watch as the sun paints the sky in shades of orange, purple, and gold. This is one of the most beautiful moments of your stay. Your guide will help you capture the perfect photograph.

Evening Arrival at the Luxury Camp

You will arrive at the luxury camp as the stars begin to appear. You will be welcomed with a glass of chilled mint tea and a warm greeting from the camp staff.

You will be shown to your elegant tent. Take time to freshen up in your private bathroom. A hot shower is available.

Gourmet Dinner Under the Stars

You will enjoy a gourmet dinner served in the dining tent or, weather permitting, under the open sky. The meal is prepared fresh by your camp chef.

After dinner, gather around the campfire for live Berber music. The staff will play traditional drums and sing ancient songs. You are invited to join in or simply listen while looking up at the incredible night sky.

Stargazing

The Sahara Desert offers some of the darkest skies on earth. On a clear night, you can see the Milky Way, countless stars, and even shooting stars. Your host can point out constellations and share local stories about the stars.

Overnight in Your Luxury Tent

Sleep soundly in your comfortable bed, wrapped in soft linens and warm blankets. The silence of the desert is profound. You will sleep deeply.

Day 02 :

Sunrise and Return

Early Morning – Sunrise in the Desert

Wake up early to witness the sunrise over the golden dunes. Your host will wake you in time to climb a nearby dune for the best view.

As the first light appears, the desert slowly awakens. The cool morning air is fresh and clean. The sun rises quickly, transforming the dunes from deep purple to soft pink to brilliant gold.

Gourmet Breakfast in the Camp

After sunrise, you will return to the camp for a gourmet breakfast. Your breakfast includes:

Fresh bread and Moroccan pancakes
Butter, honey, and local jams
Cheese and olives
Eggs prepared to your liking
Fresh fruit and yogurt
Coffee, tea, and fresh orange juice

Morning – Return to Merzouga

After breakfast, you have two options for returning to Merzouga:

Camel ride back through the dunes (approximately 1 to 1.5 hours)
4x4 transfer (approximately 20 minutes)

The choice is yours. If you choose the camel ride, you will have a peaceful morning trek through the dunes. If you choose the 4x4, you will be back in Merzouga earlier.

Late Morning – End of Experience

You will arrive back in Merzouga. Your driver will meet you. Your luxury desert experience concludes here.
