Morning – Departure from Marrakech
Your excursion begins in the morning from Marrakech. We will pick you up from your accommodation or an agreed meeting point. From there, we drive south through the majestic High Atlas mountains.
The journey itself is part of the adventure. As we leave the city behind, the landscape transforms from palm groves to dramatic mountain peaks and winding roads.
Crossing the High Atlas
During the drive, you will enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the High Atlas range. We pass through charming Berber villages clinging to mountainsides. Local women and children often wave as vehicles pass by.
We will make a stop at Tizi n'Tichka, the highest mountain pass in Morocco at 2,260 meters above sea level. Here, you will have the opportunity to take photos, stretch your legs, and admire the stunning mountain landscape. The air is fresh, and the views stretch for miles in every direction.
Arrival at Ait Ben Haddou
Upon arrival at Ait Ben Haddou, you will explore this traditional fortified village. This red clay ksar is one of Morocco's most photographed and best-preserved examples of earthen architecture.
You will discover the red mud-brick architecture and narrow winding alleyways as you explore this fascinating site. Climb to the top of the village for panoramic views of the surrounding river valley and desert plains. The granary at the summit once served as a storage fortress for local families.
Ait Ben Haddou has been the backdrop for numerous famous films and television series, including:

Your guide will share stories from the filming and explain how this ancient village became a Hollywood favorite.
Midday – Free Time for Lunch
You will have free time to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant near the kasbah. Traditional Moroccan tagine served with a view of the red village is an experience not to be missed. Vegetarian options are available.
Afternoon – Return to Marrakech
After a memorable morning and early afternoon at Ait Ben Haddou, we begin our return journey to Marrakech. We retrace our path through the High Atlas mountains, with additional photo stops if time allows.
You will arrive back in Marrakech in the late afternoon. Your driver will drop you off at your accommodation or the agreed meeting point.
